The holiday season is in full-swing, and this weekend offers lots of holiday events to get you into the spirit.
There’s music, shopping and even mini golf, and everything is indoors so you can ignore the rain in the forecast.
Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend:
All Weekend
- On Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mayor Ruthanne Fuller will host Holiday Mini Golf at City Hall. The course will have 18 holes, with greens and winding holes that lead to the mayor’s secret staircase as well as the City Council Chambers and the War Memorial. Admission fee is a new and unwrapped gift for children 10 and under. The Holiday Mini Golf event benefits the Holiday Gift Drive sponsored by The Village Bank in collaboration with the City of Newton Department of Health and Human Services and the Newton Rotary.
Saturday, Dec. 2
- From 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Newton will have its Holiday Fair, a shopping event featuring toys, jewelry, crafts, baked goods and more.
Sunday, Dec. 3
- From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Newton Cultural Alliance will have its Holiday Crafts Fair at Newton South High School.
- From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., the Newton League of Women Voters will host a Book Group Discussion on Banned Books at the Waban Library Center (1608 Beacon Street, Newton), for an intimate gathering and book group discussion of one of the most banned books of the last two years, Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe.
- From 4 to 7 p.m., the Newton Family Singers will present “Keep Your Heart Young: The Songs of Brandi Carlile” at the Eleanor Welch Casey Theatre at Regis College in Weston. The Newton Family Singers will celebrate the music of Grammy-winning singer Brandi Carlile by performing her songs. Tickets are available at https://www.newtonfamilysingers.org/events.html.
