DESCRIPTION:Join Green Newton and Newton Community Farm for an afternoon of creativity and discovery! \nKids will create their own one-of-a-kind sun print T-shirt using the power of sunlight\, then head out for a guided farm tour and learn how solar energy works. \nWhile the kids explore the farm\, parents and caregivers are invited to chat with Green Newton’s Energy Advocate about ways to make their homes more energy-efficient\, comfortable\, and climate-friendly. \nThe event will end with a fun round of solar trivia\, and families are welcome to stop by the Newton Community Farm stand on their way out to purchase fresh\, seasonal produce.

SUMMARY:Picnic & Play in the Park Event Series
DESCRIPTION:Newton families are invited to three hands-on sustainability activities this summer\, part of the City’s Picnic & Play in the Park series. The programs take place from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesday\, July 15\, Thursday\, July 23\, and Thursday\, August 13 at Lincoln-Eliot School\, 150 Jackson Rd\, Newton. The events are sponsored by Green Newton and Newton Parks\, Recreation & Culture. \nThe series begins with Solar Oven S’mores on Wednesday\, July 15\, where children will build solar ovens and make s’mores using the sun’s energy. Families can enjoy also clean-energy games\, and parents can learn about home energy efficiency from Green Newton’s Energy Advocate. \nBright Ideas and LEGO® Bricks follows on Thursday\, July 23\, inviting children to create sustainability-inspired LEGO creations as parents explore clean energy solutions for their homes. \nThe series concludes with the Junk Jam and Upcycle Parade on Thursday\, August 13\, where families will transform recycled materials into costumes and instruments before celebrating with a colorful Sustainability Parade. \nAll events are free\, family-friendly\, and include a snack.
