DESCRIPTION:The Zamir Chorale of Boston\, led by Artistic Director Josh Jacobson of Newton\, joins forces with the acclaimed Nashirah: The Jewish Chorale of Philadelphia\, for an immersive sonic experience\, encompassing the audience on three sides. The program will feature music from a variety of traditions\, including Hebrew\, Yiddish\, and Ladino songs\, as well as tributes to America’s semiquincentennial. We’ll also present a moving ode to Kyiv\, the birthplace of Nashirah’s conductor\, Julia Zavadsky.

DESCRIPTION:“Pro Arte welcomes conductor Sarah Ioannides\, Music Director of Symphony Tacoma and Director of Orchestral Activities at Boston University\, for a concert of rarely heard works. Bela Bartok originally composed his striking Romanian Folk Dances as a suite for piano\, later arranging it for chamber orchestra to great effect. As the first woman organist in Sweden\, the composer and conductor Elfrida Andree was a musical pioneer. Her carefree Intermezzo\, extracted from an earlier symphony\, is a breath of fresh air. Aaron Copland’s expressive Duo features Pro Arte’s principal flutist Ann Bobo. In Francis Poulenc’s colorful Sinfonietta\, the French composer’s signature wit and charm are on full musical display.”
