SUMMARY:Zamir in the Round: An Immersive Experience
DESCRIPTION:The Zamir Chorale of Boston\, known for treating audiences to Jewish musical treasures\, performed with excellence\, is about to deliver an even more magical concert event. \nThe chorale will present Zamir in the Round: An Immersive Experience\, at Temple Reyim in Newton. The dynamic “surround-sound” event will break down the invisible wall that often separates performers from their audience. Listeners will be placed right inside a circle of singers for an evening of offerings by George Gershwin\, Salamone Rossi\, Leonard Bernstein\, Cantor Benjie Ellen Schiller\, Noami Shemer\, Irving Berlin\, and more. \nAs the singers rotate positions and groupings\, audience members will remain at the center\, enjoying a range of polyphonic and\, at times\, interactive music—from meditative to rousing\, whimsical to mystical\, and jazzy to prayerful. \n“Beautiful music is more than a series of melodies\,” said Zamir Founder and Artistic Director Joshua Jacobson. “Like nature or prayer\, it permeates listeners’ souls and inspires them. We believe that our ‘boundaryless’ format will facilitate this energy and wonder.” \nAbout the Zamir Chorale of Boston\nThe Zamir Chorale of Boston’s mission is to awaken audiences to the breadth\, depth and beauty of Jewish music\, performed with excellence. Led by Founder and Artistic Director Joshua Jacobson\, the chorale has earned critical acclaim as “America’s foremost Jewish choir”. Zamir records and tours throughout the U.S.\, as well as Israel and Europe. The chorale is the Choir-in-Residence at Temple Reyim\, Newton and a member of the Greater Boston Choral Consortium\, and is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council\, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts\, and loyal supporters.
